Two taken to hospital after Syline Drive rollover

UPDATE: A spokesman for the RCPD said Wednesday morning that the driver involved in the rollover accident on Skyline Drive on Tuesday remains in critical condition.  The initial investigation into the accident indicates that alcohol was a factor.



Rapid City Police are investigating a single vehicle rollover accident that occurred this afternoon on Skyline Drive. Police were called at approximately 1:15 p.m. to the accident near Skyline Drive and Pine Heights Drive. The driver of a 1998 Volvo S70 lost control going up Skyline, ran off the road, and rolled the vehicle onto its roof.
When first responders arrived, the 27-year-old male driver was unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 22-year-old male passenger was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Initial investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.
Traffic on Skyline Drive was temporarily diverted while responders worked to clear the accident scene.
