Many agencies responded to a fire-call on Thursday afternoon in the Valley.  The Pennington County Fire Administration in a news release said that the residential fire went to 2 alarms before being brought under control.  They stay the structure and detached garage were extensively damaged, with a loss of clothing, personal items and other household goods. The Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Fighters were the first to arrive, and saw a large volume of fire, at which time they made another call for help.

The wind driven fire threatened adjacent homes, however firefighters were able to confine the fire to the structure of origin, stopping the spread of the flames to nearby structures, infrastructure and other improvements.

One civilian is reported to have been taken to the hospital. The cause remains under investigation.
