Rapid City Council on Monday night returned an item to Committee for further review. The City wants to advertise for bids for bus passenger bench maintenance and bench advertising. The City is looking to find a qualified advertising agency to provide and administer a bus bench and advertising program for Rapid Transit System, essentially privatizing bus bench ownership. In lieu of Transit Manager Rich Sagen’s (SAY-gen hard g) absence, Public Works Director Dale Tech explained that this is a cost to the City to maintain those benches…..
Alderwoman Lisa Modrick (MOE-drick), estimating the City currently has 75 benches, said a vendor would likely have to replace the current benches as they currently don’t support advertising.
She said the City at a previous time had this same conversation…..
The Council agreed to send this item back to committee to get more information.
