Accused Russian Spy Close Ties to SD

News that a Russian woman with close ties to South Dakota has been charged with illegal political activities in the US, continues to evoke responses of shock.  Congressional Republican candidate Dusty Johnson, who hosted Maria Butina to speak to kids at a youth camp in the Black Hills in 2015, said he’s angry and feels deceived.

Democratic Candidate Tim Bjorkman said it’s important to wait until all the facts are known…..

 

There are concerns, however, regarding protection of the US election system with the upcoming November election…..Bjorkman said that Russia is a major threat to the U.S. Democratic Process…

He there are efforts at the state level to make the voting process more secure and he would be in favor of federal efforts to strength that.
