BRUSSELS (AP) — A prison administration official says inmates in Belgian prisons have made 42,000 reusable fabric masks to equip prison staff and prisoners amid a lack of protective equipment in the country. The masks have been handed in priority to prison staff and inmates involved in penitentiary food-preparation operations. Since the start of the pandemic, 13 inmates have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Belgian prisons, with 61 prison staff getting infected, Van De Vijver said. Among the staff who tested positive, 28 have been allowed back to work.
