A string of vehicle break-ins has the Rapid City Police Department reminding the public to secure their valuables and cars.

Brendyn Medina, spokesperson for the RCPD, gave the basics of what occurred.

Medina, who says the majority of car breaches are crimes of opportunity rather than an aggravated crime, reminds the importance of reporting any break-in to police.

Medina says it’s all comes with the territory of nicer weather.

Those tactics include keeping your valuables either out of sight or inside with you, never leaving a firearm in a car, and always locking your car doors.
