The South Dakota Department of Health is attempting to bring doctors to rural areas of South Dakota. They have opened the State Loan Repayment program, a program that pays off tuition for applicants that agree to stay for a minimum of 2 years.

Kaitlyn Thomas, the Administrator for the Office of Rural Healthcare says “It’s a great tool.”

The 1.5 million dollar funding comes from a federal grant. This is the 2nd year of the 3 year program.
