One man was killed and Two were injured in a home explosion Wednesday morning in rural South Dakota. The Two injured were flown to the nearest hospital due to the severity of the injuries.
Capt. Josh Phillips of Minnehaha County Sheriffs Office, said a bystander reported the house in flames around 7am. The bystander then went to help the victims.
Several volunteer Fire Departments from the surrounding area rushed to the home as well as the Sioux Falls Fire Department, but the home was lost to the flames.
“This just wasn’t a house fire and a minor explosion. This was a significant event,” Said Phillips. He then added that the state Fire Marshall is working with investigators from the sheriffs office and other agencies to determine the cause.
The names of those involved have not been released.
