The Rapid City Police Department is currently seeking the public’s help to locate 57-year-old Jeffery Engelien of Black Hawk as a person-of-interest in the investigation into a burglary/theft which occurred early Tuesday morning.

At around 4:15 a.m. on February 6th, police were dispatched to the casino at 1565 Haines Avenue for report of an alarm that was set off at the location. On arrival, police made contact with casino management and worked to search the building. During the search, police observed damage to an office door inside the building. After speaking with management, it was determined an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the casino’s safe. Engelien is a former employee of the business, and police are interested in speaking to him regarding the ongoing investigation.

The suspect seen in the casino’s security footage is wearing a black and red coat over an orange hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, dark shoes, black gloves, and a dark colored mask.

Anyone with any information about Engelien’s whereabouts or about the burglary incident should contact Det. James Halterman at 605-394-4134. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
