The City’s Building Services Division issued 161 building permits in January with a combined valuation total of more than $35.3 million.  The valuation total is the highest total for the month of January since 2018 and higher than the $30.6 million in building permit valuation from January 2023.

The City issued eight permits with valuation totals exceeding $1 million each, including seven permits each valued at $2.86 million issued to 35Point Capital LLC with Paradigm Construction LLC as contractor.  The seven permits are for 24-unit apartment complexes (168 total apartments) located on Fox Road. The highest-valued permit issued in January was to Butler Machinery Company for a rebuild from fire damage to the facility at 3601 Deadwood Avenue North.

“The year is off to a solid start,” said Community Development Director Vicki Fisher. “You can’t make projections for the year based on the first month but early indicators show that this is going to be a solid year of growth for Rapid City.”

The City issued 2,815 building permits in 2023 with a record combined valuation total of more than $463.5 million.  Over the past three years – from 2021 to 2023 – the City has issued nearly 10,000 building permits (9,847) with a combined valuation total of $1.22 billion.
