At 5:40 a.m. on February 21st, police were dispatched to 302 E. North Street for a report of a robbery that had just taken place. On arrival, police spoke to an employee of the convenience store. The employee reported that an unknown female had entered the business and brandished a knife before fleeing with several items. While responding to the location, police located a female subject matching the description of the robbery suspect a short distance away. When contacted by police, she initially refused to comply with commands to stop. Police were able to safely detain her in handcuffs and recovered several items that were taken during the robbery. She was identified as 40-year-old Rosalee Geiger of Rapid City. After a search of her person, police located a knife in her possession. Through additional information gained during the investigation, police positively identified Geiger as the suspect responsible for the robbery. She was placed under arrest for First Degree Robbery and an existing Warrant before being transported to the Pennington County Jail.

“The almost-immediate apprehension of the suspect responsible for this robbery is no doubt thanks to the diligence and rapid response by our patrol officers,” says Rapid City Chief of Police Don Hedrick. “This is yet another example of the swift response and professional police-work our citizens can expect to be upheld by the men and women who comprise the RCPD.”
