The Let Freedom Fly Airshow this weekend at Pierre Regional Airport will include all sorts of
pilots from stunt pilots to military pilots. But one sort of pilot will be prohibited from the two-day
aerial extravaganza…drone pilots…
Hughes County Sheriff Patrick Callahan says anyone using a drone, even before the airshow
will likely end up having a conversation with federal Air Marshals….
With many pieces of military assets at the Pierre Regional Airport security, in general, will be
much more enhanced than usual…
Callahan says the drone detection technology can pick up on drone use within a multiple mile
radius of Pierre Regional Airport and can detect a drone only a few feet off the ground. The
restriction on drone use includes any commercial or legally licensed drone pilots.
