Police are seeking the public’s help to locate two individuals believed to be present at the time of the shooting. They are 16-year-old Tyrell James Yellow Thunder of Rapid City (photo withheld due to juvenile status), and 20-year-old Loretta Elizabeth Bettelyoun of Rapid City (pictured). Bettelyoun is also wanted on a parole detainer.
They are both being sought for questioning about the shooting incident. Anyone with any information about their whereabouts should contact Det. Brendan Lenard at 605-394-4134. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
ORIGINAL INCIDENT:
At around 11:50 a.m. on September 2nd, the Rapid City Police Department responded to a report of a male juvenile who had just received a gunshot wound at a residence in the 400 block of E. Fairlane Dr.
On arrival, police and medical personnel rendered immediate life-saving efforts before the juvenile was transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are suspicious in nature. Detectives and Investigators of the RCPD and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office investigative divisions have worked tirelessly to investigate the incident’s circumstances since the initial response.
Police have no reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety as a result of the incident. Multiple individuals who were present at the time of the shooting have been interviewed, however, if anyone has any information about the incident or individuals involved, they should contact Det.
