Many local students will begin the annual Thanksgiving recess after this Friday and continuing through all of next week. Parents and youth looking for recreational options during the extended holiday break can check out the Roosevelt Park Swim Center and Roosevelt Park Ice Arena.
The Roosevelt Park Swim Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day. With no school all next week for many youth, open swim will be scheduled each day beginning at noon, however after 4 p.m., space will be limited in the lap pool with scheduled time for swim teams. During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the facility will be open Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. The facility will be open Sunday of the holiday weekend from Noon-5:45 p.m. with open swim scheduled for the entire period.
The Roosevelt Park Ice Arena is closed Thanksgiving Day and will be open for public skate with the following schedule: this Friday, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Saturday from 1:30-3:15 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.; Sunday from 2:45-5 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday from 1:30-3:30 p.m.; Friday, November 29 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Saturday, November 30 from 1:30-3:15 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.; and Sunday, December 1 from 2:45-5 p.m.
