Living in the Light of Discovery

April 21, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Have you ever wondered about the caving efforts at #JewelCave? How do the #cavers map and survey passages? How is this information used to update the cave map? What are some of the more recent discoveries? What does it feel like to #exploreanddiscover one of the world’s last frontiers?

Kicking off National Park Week, Volunteer Caver Chris Pelczarski will be at the visitor center on Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m. to share his experiences. Chris has been caving for a number of years and has been involved in many of the recent discoveries, most noted was his assistance in finding Hour Glass Lake in October 2015.

Come and join park staff, local cavers, and NPS enthusiasts and learn about the wonders (and mysteries) of the third longest #cave in the world. The presentation is planned for the new classroom space within the visitor center. Reservations are not required. Participants should simply arrive about 15 minutes prior to the program time.
