South Dakotans Want Term Limits

Created: 11/4/2008 8:48:54 PM

South Dakota's voters have spoken: Term limits, which were put in place for state lawmakers in 1992, will remain.

An effort to repeal the limits of eight consecutive years of service in one house of the Legislature went down to defeat Tuesday.

With 54 percent of precincts reporting, Constitutional Amendment J was being rejected by 75 percent of the voters.

A vote for the amendment was a vote to repeal term limits.
