Thune Says It Didn't, Herseth-Sandlin Says It Did

Measuring whether the stimulus has worked or not has been difficult.   Senator John Thune says it hasn't worked.  He said  that the Obama Administration promised that the stimulus would  create 10,000 jobs for South Dakota and that hasn't happened.

Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin says it has worked for the state in so many ways….

She said the list is long about how targeted investments through the stimulus provided assistance, in addition to the tax breaks for families and small businesses.

She said it’s going to take a while to turn the economy around but it was important to soften the blow and the effects of the recession and it remains a work in progress….

She said the many economists have said that job growth would lag beyond other indicators….

She agrees that getting the economy moving again can’t be solely through government programs, but she said that’s a proven method of trying to stimulate the economy.

She it’s important to get the private sector moving again.
