BHP&L Rate Hike Hearing

Black Hills Power customers took a stand Tuesday night in Rapid City at a public hearing over a significant electric rate increase.

BHP wants to increase rates by more than 26-percent and for the average customer that’s about 18 dollars more per month. Customer Steve Skromeda says customers will feel the increase pretty hard…

But Black Hills Power representatives feel the increase will help them provide safe and reliable service for the customers.
And for those who would struggle with the rate hike.  Company spokesman Kyle White says they’re willing to work with their customers….

The PUC will hold a public hearing to discuss the increase early next year.
