Road Landing

A paved county road southwest of Aberdeen
became a runway Wednesday afternoon when John Bartholomew needed to
land his four-passenger plane because of engine problems.
The 70-year-old Dakota Dunes man said landing on a road isn't
much different than landing at an airport.
Bartholomew and passenger Gary Nelson of Aberdeen took off from
the Aberdeen airport for a pleasure flight.
Neither man was hurt and the plane wasn't damaged in the
emergency landing. A pickup truck towed the plane to the airport.
