A South Dakota prosecutor says a woman
arrested earlier this month had a blood-alcohol level nearly nine
times the legal limit.
Meade County State's Attorney Jesse Sondreal said a South Dakota
Highway Patrol trooper found 45-year-old Marguerite Engle slumped
over the steering wheel of a stolen delivery van along Interstate
90 on Dec. 1.
Her blood-alcohol level measured .708. The legal limit is .08.
Engle was arrested on suspicion of second offense driving under
the influence again Monday after she was found in a stolen vehicle
along state Highway 34 in Meade County.
Engle remains in jail. She's scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
Sondreal said Engle had recently moved to the state from
Minnesota.
Engle's attorney declined comment.
