It was rejected by a narrow margin in 2006, but the efforts to legalize marijuana In South Dakota continue.
On Monday, supporters plan to file petition signatures to seek a statewide public vote.
Glaucoma and chronic pain sufferers have long lauded the effects of medical pot in treating their disease, but critics accuse supporters of using it as a smokescreen for legalizing the drug altogether.

An ABC Washington Post Poll found 81-percent of people nationwide support legalizing medicinal marijuana, up 69-percent from 1997.
Montana is the only state in our region that allows the use of medical marijuana.
