Rapid City Woman Sentenced For Taking Children Overseas

 A Rapid City woman who pleaded guilty to
taking her two children to the United Arab Emirates for two weeks
without their father's consent has been sentenced to serve about
six months in jail.

Amber Solay was accused of leaving the country with the
children, ages 5 and 7, last July, when she and her husband, Kurt
Solay, were divorcing.

She pleaded guilty in November to felony parental kidnapping.
With credit for time already served, she will spend about another
three months behind bars and then five years on probation.
During her sentencing on Monday, Solay said she was sorry for
the pain she caused her ex-husband.

Kurt Solay said the children believed they were on a vacation
and were not traumatized.

Amber Solay will be allowed only supervised visitation with the
children during her probation.
