Rebate Money

  South Dakotans have applied for less
than half the rebate money available for upgrading to more energy
efficient appliances.

Officials said $446,366 was still available as of Monday. The
state started with $738,391.

The national rebate program began March 1. About 40 percent of
South Dakota's share has been claimed for the purchase of 2,600
appliances.

The amount given to each state was determined by a
population-based formula.
