The Lead Fire Department responded to a report of a smoke filled home at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning.
Firefighters discovered contents within a room of the home were ignited and burning freely. The fire was quickly knocked down and any extension was stopped.
The Lead Fire Department says Incidents like this are prime examples of the necessity of having working smoke detectors in your home as well as the immediate action needed to call 911 when an event occurs. Fire can grow rapidly if left unchecked – which makes timely response even more important.
