South Dakota’s race for governor is growing. Toby Doeden has officially entered to run, becoming the second candidate in the 2026 race. The businessman and conservative PAC leader listed “Governor” on his paperwork filed last week as the statewide office sought. Doeden, who calls himself an “unapologetic Dakota First Conservative,” plans to launch his campaign today in Aberdeen. He joins Republican Representative Jon Hansen, who filed earlier this month. The state’s primary is set for June 2026.
