A 73 year-old Lead man died in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning on Highway 14A near Deadwood, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Preliminary reports indicate the man was driving a 2011 Honda Ridgeline westbound near mile marker 40 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2022 Ford F-550. The impact caused both vehicles to come to rest in the eastbound lanes. The crash occurred around 10:35 a.m.
The driver of the Honda died from injuries sustained in the collision. The 59-year-old man behind the wheel of the Ford was not injured.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, pending family notification. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
