Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) says the true impact of President Donald Trump’s airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities will be judged by history. When asked about the situation, Thune noted that while the attacks appeared to significantly disrupt Iran’s program, a clearer evaluation would come after upcoming classified briefings with top security officials.
“We’ll hopefully have a better picture tomorrow,” Thune said, referencing the Senate briefing scheduled for Thursday, followed by a House briefing on Friday. He suggested that although early signs point to extensive damage, it will take time to fully assess how far the program was set back.
Meanwhile, President Trump, speaking at the NATO Summit in The Hague, stood by the decision, claiming the strikes had completely dismantled Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
