City offices will be closed and most operations and services not operating next Friday in observance of Independence Day.
City offices will be closed on Friday for the holiday observance. The closure includes the Rapid City Landfill. Trash collection for the Independence Day holiday week will be adjusted as follows: Monday’s collections will be operating on a normal schedule with Tuesday through Friday collections picked up a day early. Everyone on City trash collection routes is advised to leave trash out until collected. The Landfill will reopen on Saturday, July 5 with regularly-scheduled hours.
Rapid Transit Service operations, including RapidRide and Dial-A-Ride services, will not operate on Friday/Independence Day. Operations will resume on Saturday, July 5.
The Rapid City Public Library will be closed Independence Day and will reopen Saturday, July 5.
The City’s annual fireworks display will be held Friday, July 4 at approximately 9:30 p.m. from Executive Golf Course. The Rapid City Municipal Band will perform its annual holiday concert prior to the fireworks display, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
