As summer travel ramps up, and the holiday approaches, South Dakota drivers are seeing relatively stable gas prices, according to the latest data from AAA. The state’s average price for regular unleaded gasoline stands at $2.98 per gallon, about 20 cents below the national average of $3.18.5.
Prices across the state are about the same as a month ago, but remain 25 cents lower than this time last year. Diesel prices are averaging $3.38 per gallon, down slightly from last year’s levels.
With the Fourth of July approaching, AAA recommends drivers shop around for the best prices and ensure their vehicles are road-trip ready—checking tire pressure, oil levels, and air filters to maximize fuel efficiency.
