With the 4th of July in the rear-view, Rapid City is gearing up to become a top destination for America’s 250th birthday celebration next year. Mayor Jason Salamun announced ambitious plans to attract visitors with a summer-long series of events, including concerts, exhibits, and parades. “We’re going big next year and expect a lot of visitors,” Salamun said, emphasizing the city’s patriotic spirit. To organize the festivities, committees will be formed to plan specific elements, such as a parade committee led by experienced individuals. Adding to the excitement, a fireworks display at Mount Rushmore is set for next July, following an agreement signed by Governor Rhoden and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to mark the historic milestone.
