Federal officials continue to investigate a fatal plane crash that occurred Saturday near Hot Springs during a glider towing mission involving a Piper PA-25 aircraft. The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched an investigator Sunday to examine the crash site and collect evidence.
The inquiry centers on the aircraft, the pilot, and environmental conditions surrounding the incident. Authorities are analyzing flight data, weather patterns, maintenance history, and pilot background.
A preliminary report is expected within 30 days, but the final determination of the crash’s cause may take up to two years. One other person was injured in the crash.
