The Rapid City Council has officially voted in favor of the proposed Libertyland USA theme park, paving the way for what could become South Dakota’s largest entertainment and residential development.
Set to rise near Mall Drive and LaCrosse Street, Libertyland USA will span over 300 acres and feature a patriotic theme celebrating the spirit of the American West. Plans include:
- A theme park with interactive attractions
- A resort hotel with an indoor waterpark and conference center
- A retail and dining lifestyle center
- An RV campground and outdoor recreation areas
- A residential district known as Black Hills Village
Developers say the project could bring up to 2,000 jobs and generate tens of millions in tax revenue. The park is expected to open in 2026, aligning with America’s 250th birthday, and will be built in phases through 2030.
The council’s approval marks a major milestone for the project, which has been in planning since 2022.
