The Meade County Commission has given initial approval to a proposed air park and housing development north of Rapid City. The project, led by Infinity Properties LLC, includes 51 residential lots and a private airstrip featuring a 5,000-foot runway.
Designed to blend aviation and residential living, the development would center homes around hangars and shared airfield access. While the commission’s vote moves the project forward, it has sparked concern among nearby residents over noise, safety, and environmental impacts.
Opponents have urged the county to reconsider, citing the lack of zoning regulations and potential disruption to the area. County officials acknowledged the concerns but emphasized that their role is limited to evaluating the proposed section line relocation.
The project remains in early stages, with further review and public input expected in upcoming commission meetings.
