Rapid City marked the grand opening of Block Five with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, celebrating the completion of the mixed-use development at 5th and St. Joseph Street. The event drew city officials, developers, and community members to recognize the transformation of a once-vacant lot into a vibrant downtown hub.
Block Five features retail space, office suites, and 40 residential units, including affordable housing options. Mayor Jason Salamun praised the project as a milestone in revitalizing the city’s core, noting its alignment with Rapid City’s long-term growth and housing goals.
The development is part of a broader effort to attract investment and enhance livability downtown. Officials highlighted the collaboration between public and private sectors that made the project possible, including support from the city’s economic development initiatives.
