A new television ad airing across South Dakota is sounding the alarm over potential privatization of the U.S. Postal Service. The American Postal Workers Union claims the move could lead to higher costs, longer delivery times, and widespread post office closures—especially in rural areas.
Sioux Falls is already feeling the impact. Fourteen postal counters located inside Hy-Vee and Lewis Drug stores are scheduled to close by the end of September, reducing convenient access for local customers.
Union leaders argue the privatization effort benefits Wall Street and corporate interests at the expense of everyday Americans, calling it a “money grab” that could disproportionately hurt states like South Dakota.
