South Dakota Bar Foundation Secures DOJ Grant for Innovative Online Legal Hub

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Access to Justice has awarded the South Dakota Bar Foundation a grant to enhance access to justice through an innovative online platform. The funding, part of the Federal Strategic Plan to Expand Access to Justice, supports the development of a virtual legal resource hub for low-income and underserved South Dakotans. The platform will provide free legal information, self-help tools, and connections to pro bono attorneys, addressing barriers like geographic isolation and limited resources. The initiative aims to streamline legal assistance for civil issues such as housing, family law, and consumer rights, particularly in rural and tribal communities. The South Dakota Bar Foundation was one of 12 recipients selected nationwide for this competitive grant.
