The Rapid City Council has announced a second special session to discuss and potentially approve the second reading of the proposed 2026 City budget. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
This special budget session will take place ahead of the regularly scheduled City Council meeting, which will convene at 6:30 p.m. the same evening. Both meetings are open to the public. The shift to Tuesday is due to the Labor Day holiday, which falls on Monday.
The Council previously approved the first reading of the proposed budget during a special session held on Monday, August 18. In accordance with South Dakota state law, municipal budgets must undergo two formal readings before receiving final approval.
