The Unified Narcotic Enforcement Team (UNET) has arrested 61-year-old James William Reese of Hot Springs in connection with an ongoing investigation into methamphetamine trafficking across Wyoming and Western South Dakota. Authorities seized approximately 212.5 grams of methamphetamine during the operation.
Reese faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in Custer County, including distribution and possession of methamphetamine, eluding law enforcement, and drug paraphernalia violations. He also has outstanding warrants in Pennington and Fall River Counties for similar drug-related offenses, including possession of cocaine, maintaining drug premises, petty theft, and committing a felony while armed.
The investigation, led by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, revealed methamphetamine was being transported into Rapid City from Colorado.
UNET, coordinated by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Division of Criminal Investigation, includes local, state, tribal, and federal partners. Agencies involved in this case include the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Rapid City Police Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, DEA, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.
