Around 9:35 a.m. Saturday morning, police were dispatched to the area of 804 E. North Street following a report of a female attempting to sell drugs to customers from a silver passenger car parked near a local business. Officers quickly obtained the vehicle’s license plate number and located it shortly thereafter. When they attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, initiating a pursuit through city streets.
During the chase, the suspect vehicle sideswiped another car in traffic. No injuries were reported in the crash. The pursuit was eventually terminated for safety reasons, but officers observed the vehicle stopping in the 400 block of E. Fairlane Drive. Two occupants were immediately detained, while police searched the area for the driver and a fourth passenger who had fled on foot.
The search led officers to a nearby apartment where they found both the driver and the fourth occupant hiding. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Josslyn Lamont of Pierre, who was confirmed to be the individual involved in the original drug complaint. A search of her bag, which had been left in the vehicle, revealed multiple drug-related items. Lamont was arrested on a series of charges including Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Eluding, Driving Without a Valid License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Proof of Insurance, Stop Sign Violation, Failure to Obey a Traffic Signal, and three outstanding warrants.
The fourth occupant, identified as 33-year-old Danialle Longsoldier of Wanblee, was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant. Another passenger from the suspect vehicle, 33-year-old Charlsie Mettler of Wasta, was also arrested on a parole hold.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
