A Rapid City resident has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison following a disturbing investigation into child exploitation materials. On Friday, 61-year-old Jerry Lamont received the sentence after being convicted of possessing more than 13,000 images of child pornography.
According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the material included graphic depictions of abuse involving children, some as young as infants. Investigators also uncovered computer-generated content involving extreme and illegal themes.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identified 41 victims among the images recovered. As part of his sentencing, Lamont was ordered to pay $35,630 in restitution to support the victims.
Authorities discovered that Lamont had uploaded numerous illicit photos and videos to a Dropbox cloud storage account. A search of his property revealed 12 electronic devices, all containing illegal content.
Lamont is now in federal custody, and officials say the case underscores the importance of continued vigilance and enforcement in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
