The latest report from the US Drought Monitor shows no change over the last week as 73 percent of the state is reporting no drought. Just under 27 percent is in the abnormally dry to moderate category affecting a population of just over 21,000 people. Those conditions are contained to the southwestern and south central parts of the state and extending to the north along the Missouri River through Hughes, Sully and parts of Potter Counties. Nationwide, very little drought is being reported over the eastern two-thirds of the US. Severe to extreme drought conditions are being reported west of the rockies through parts of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and along the Arizona-New Mexico border.
