Rapid City police responded to a burglary report at a business on 1624 Haines Avenue At approximately 1:50 a.m. Tuesday Morning,. Officers found a broken glass door and reviewed security footage showing two males, one throwing a rock to shatter the door, entering and stealing cases of beer. A third individual was also seen taking several cans of beer before all fled.
Around 2:50 a.m., during a patrol in the 1600 block of Space Avenue, police spotted a group with an open case of beer. When approached, the group scattered, but officers apprehended a juvenile near N. 7th Street and Antares Court, identified as the rock-thrower. He was detained and processed through the juvenile justice system.
Later that morning, police responded to a suspicious activity report at 912 Explorer Street, identifying 24-year-old Joseph Arpan of Rapid City. Wearing the same clothing as the third individual in the burglary footage and carrying unopened beer cans, Arpan was arrested for third-degree burglary and booked into Pennington County Jail.
