The Rapid City Public Library held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the launch of outdoor storytime in the library’s new musical garden. The event marked a major step in expanding library services and creating more inclusive community spaces.
Emily Tupa, Board Chair of the Rapid City Public Library praised the Rapid City Library Foundation for its continued innovation, from the bookmobile to the new sound garden designed to spark creativity and play. The garden features native plants and whimsical musical installations, including flower-shaped bells and beetle-like percussion instruments, all part of the library’s mission to foster “Third Spaces”—community hubs beyond home and work.
Former city council member and library board member Rod Pettigrew echoed the importance of public support for the library, adding “If you have a strong library, you have a strong community.”
