Sturgis Police responded yesterday to a report involving a 15-year-old girl who had escaped a residence in Sturgis after allegedly being held against her will, sexually assaulted, and forced to use illegal drugs. Officers located the girl and brought her to the Meade County Law Enforcement Center, where she identified Michael Wilson of Sturgis as the suspect and provided details about the location of the alleged crimes.
While monitoring the residence, police observed Wilson and three others leaving in a vehicle. A failed traffic stop led to a high-speed chase through Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead, and into Spearfish Canyon. During the pursuit, occupants reportedly discarded illegal drugs and paraphernalia from the vehicle. Attempts to stop the car with spike strips were unsuccessful, but the chase ended just outside Spearfish.
All four individuals were taken into custody. Wilson faces multiple felony charges, including rape, aggravated kidnapping, and drug offenses. The other passengers are also facing charges related to the pursuit. The investigation remains ongoing.
