A Pennington County jury has found 24-year-old Ezekiel Mayweather guilty of aiding and abetting first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of Esther Wolfe.
Wolfe was shot and killed on February 21, 2024.
The six-day trial included testimony from over 40 witnesses and more than 150 exhibits. Co-defendant Arkadius Wright, who pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter, testified that Mayweather planned the murder, provided the weapon, and threatened him to carry out the act.
Wright’s account was supported by video, photos, phone data, and other witness statements. Prosecutors emphasized the killing was premeditated, not impulsive.
The case was prosecuted by Gina Nelson, Rachel Lindsay, and legal extern Karli Viher with the States Attorney’s Office.
