Home prices across Rapid City and the Black Hills continued to rise in the third quarter of 2025, but growing inventory and longer sale times suggest a cooling market. The median sale price in Rapid City reached $364,000 in August, up 3.7% from the previous year, with the typical home value at $358,176. West Rapid City (57702) led in pricing, with a median sale price of $462,500 and typical home value of $444,026.
Inventory rose to 793 active listings in September, and homes spent a median of 59 days on the market—66 days on the west side, thats up from 49 a year earlier. Listing prices ranged from as low as $30,000 to nearly $5 million, reflecting the region’s wide housing spectrum. While values remain strong, the market is showing signs of shifting toward buyers.
