A 43-year-old man from Rapid City died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near mile marker 54.
According to preliminary reports, a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound crossed the median and struck an eastbound 2022 International Truck-Tractor. The crash prompted a shutdown of I-90’s eastbound lanes around 7:30 a.m., with partial reopening by 10:15 a.m.
The Silverado driver died from his injuries, while the truck driver, a 43-year-old man from Box Elder was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Both Drivers were wearing seat belts and names of those involved have not been released pending family notification.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. All details remain preliminary.
