An upgrade to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint is underway.
Funded through both local and federal sources, the expansion is designed to improve efficiency and accommodate the increasing number of visitors to Rapid City and the surrounding Black Hills region.
As part of the project, the airport will add five new gates and an additional concession area, alongside the revamped TSA checkpoint.
Airport officials note the construction will not interfere with holiday travel, noting that completion is expected by March.
