Authorities have identified a 63-year-old Belle Fourche woman as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash last Thursday evening, about eight miles west of Roscoe, SD.
According to preliminary reports, Shawna Laree Weishaar of was driving east on US Highway 12 when a deer entered the roadway near mile marker 241. She swerved to avoid it, struck the animal, and veered into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2018 GMC Sierra.
Weishaar died from her injuries. The GMC’s driver, 19-year-old Tacey Dean Miller of Webster, and a passenger sustained minor injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
