The Rapid City Fire Department will mark the completion of its newly expanded Fire Station 1 with a dedication ceremony and open house on Friday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m., located at 10 Main Street. The event will include a hose uncoupling ceremony and remarks from Fire Chief Jason Culberson and Mayor Jason Salamun. Guided tours will follow every half hour until 5 p.m., with additional tours offered Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Originally built in 1975, Station 1 has served as the department’s headquarters for decades. The expansion, which began in February 2023, doubles the facility’s size from 19,000 to 41,000 square feet. The remodel consolidates all administrative operations under one roof, enhancing internal communication and operational efficiency.
